The member of the group, Nicolás C. Cruz, has successfully finished his first pre-doctoral research stay. He has been working with Dr. Said Salhi, from The University of Kent, at Kent Business School (Canterbury, England), for three months. His experience has been really positive both for his personal and research facets. In relation to his personal facet, he has had the opportunity to meet very nice people, starting from his host supervisor, Dr. Salhi, and discover England. Regarding his research field, he has improved his knowledge about Global Optimization, specifically meta-heuristics, to apply them to heliostat field optimization for solar central receiver systems.

From the 26th to the 30th of June, several members of the High Performance Computing and Algorithms group attended the  International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC 2017), a well known conference indexed in the CORE B ranking, it was held in Valencia (Spain). We show our progress on mitigating pollution and free riding attacks in fully connected P2P system using the Shamir's Secret Sharing technique. They were very interesting days, especially for training of a PhD because we could learn about many topics such as security, networks or IoT.

Cristóbal Medina en IWCMC 2017

From 4 to 8 July, the XVII International Congress of Computational and Mathematical Methods in Science and Engineering (CMMSE 2017) was organized in the town of Rota, Cádiz, Spain. Several members of the group took advantage of this opportunity to present the work they have done in recent months. On this occasion, the attendees were Ester Martín Garzón, Juana López Redondo, Nicolás Calvo Cruz, Miriam Ruiz Ferrández and Savíns Puertas Martín.
